CS @SKETCHING LAB COSTA RICA 2014

We've been super busy up until this event in Costa Rica. We didn't get to mentally prepare for the workshops yet alone get equipment ready to film Sketching Lab 2014. We literally prepared our presentations on the flight there. We used what was readily available to us which was Anh T Nguyen and My iphone. Used Anh's to film and mine to record audio for this video while running a workshop. There is no excuses to be honest. Use what you have. Make the best of your situation and continue to do work. Don't tell me you don't have the right tools, and when you do you'll make it. - this was shot on a smart phone yo!

It was a memorable week and we will keep each and everyone dearly to heart. To be in the same space as Patrick Ballesteros and John Timms and to feel and learn their wisdom & energy is priceless. Yes, Its been awhile since we've posted new stuff. We apologize for the lack in activity. Anh and I have been working hard on new content for the site but just haven't been able to refine to show you all yet. Our day jobs have been super demanding thus leaving us no time for CS love. We're in Costa Rica right now doing a three day workshop. Super excited to be a part of Sketching Lab and humble to share the stage with talented Patrick Ballesteros and John Timms

Oddly enough, many thoughts ran through my head. What is the creative equivalent? When was the last time you designed so hard you broke a creative sweat?

love & passion

Its about that time of year again-- For some, you relax and enjoy the coming months of summer. For others, you'll be going through one of the biggest transitions of your life. You'll be leaving a system that has disciplined you for a very long time. Yes, its intimidating going independent. Moving forward you will face many challenges, handle them to the best of your ability but remember one thing. You've made it this far never give up. One advice from us is to find passion in your life, in your work, dedicate as much love to those things as you possibly can. Because only when you're passionate you'll find joy in your work, life and love.

FUJI X100S: STUDIO SHOTS

I recently fell back in love with photography and decided to pick up a Fuji X100s digi cam. I'm trying HARD to refine my skills because you guys deserve higher quality content! Looking for a good tune to vibe to? Chet Faker's music always have really nice acoustic details to em. Put on some headphones and listen to the creative sounds in this track.

MINUS 8

Those wondering about our process, here is a peek at Minus 8's intro video. Remember to spend some time in silence to sketch and map out ideas that initially comes to mind. This helps track your thinking for when you start implementing. As you can see here, sometimes we do very little sketching and a lot more writing.

The brand lends itself to the details used in the animation. The ticking sound from a watch was our starting point. Originally we wanted to time all graphics on a 5 tick count but turns out the tick audio alone was so lame. Design is about improvising, we added Kanye's Jesus Walks to the mix and it was the the perfect combination, the tempo matched the ticks and the track meshed nicely giving an organized & military feel.

We wanted to capture the different faces Minus 8 has to offer from their collection. Conceptually the animation should capture everything watch related. Emphasizing on sounds, visuals and the offerings from the first collection. We wanted to also end the animation with a bang. The smoke and "boom" sound effect acted as the stamp of approval, verifying this company means business.
