Now I'm not a music expert but my ear drums do not lie when I hear good music. Our friend Adam rap name A-1 has been putting out conscious, amazing story telling hip hop that's appealing to the MASS. Now being in the design industry we're constantly faced with heavy constructive criticism daily, heavy harsh truth that really molds and crafts a quality designer. So I'm not here to be friendly and compliment a friend! Its the TRUTH and this guy will be untouchable soon!
Check out his music here:
Keith (bakerson) put me onto B.Lewis's music with the "See-Saw Kids" album, you can check it out here.
B.Lewis's music is a combination of melody, hip hop, soul & electronic experimentation. Great music to cruise around town with or bang it on your stereo at the design studio. (that's what im doing now.)
Here is my latest infatuation from B.Lewis "Revised Interpretations Vol 1" --

Last years Adidas party the "Do Over" has gotten me fiend'n for more. The traveling party hits many cities such as New York, LA and just happen to be in Portland on my last summer when I was up north.
Last week while in Portland for a wedding the "Do Over" was in town again I guess our reunion was inevitable. My day started out great the sun was warm in the high 80's, I went to Nike to pick up gear at an employee rate of 50% off - the perks you receive having connections! Following the shopping spree I met up with some good friends for Pomegranate Momosa and brunch. Then the Do Over.
Unfortunately due to popular demands the line wrapped around the block, mind you I came 30 minutes before the venue opened. My good friend Paul Vu was there an hour before so I slipped right in front of him in line. After 2 hours of waiting under the hot sun and people cutting one another like crabs in a bucket I bounced! I manage to take photos but not very many.
The homies Woo Staar and A-1 - you know are reliable with dropping good music and awesome videos. Check out the latest "Now You Do" Produced by Flosstradamus.
The video was shot outside of a neighborhood convenience store that A-1 has frequented since he was young. "It's just me in house shoes and sweats, grabbing something from my local liquor store. It's one of the most basic yet, accurate representations of an average city kids lifestyle that I can think of.. and that's what we wanted people to see." This is simple yet, visually pleasing video was directed once again by long-time friend and producer/designer WooStaar.
Our friend Blaze has released his Debut Mixtape titled: "Room & Board". I met Blaze while I was in Oregon for the NW Sneaker EXPO. I've got to say I was surprised when he told me he was only 19, First thought was DAMN young yet mature, has admirable drive and work ethic! I wouldn't be surprise he'll be going far in his career. GOOD LUCK TO YOU MY GUY.

Sidestory:November marks the time of year we all start traveling for the holidays. Whether it's homeward bound or vacationing in exquisite locations, our final destinations are something we all look forward to. For Thanksgiving 2011, I had been anticipating a much needed break from the San Francisco grind and was looking forward to a bit of relaxation back home with family and friends in Portland, Oregon.I planned to do nothing... (could this be true..? obviously not)
I blame it on finding joy in working hard; is this insane? I'm not sure. It could be that I'm doing what I love, therefore loving what I'm doing.
I made time this Thanksgiving to connect and shoot a featured interview with long time friends; Marquis McNeil, Isaih Marcell, Olu Majekobaje, Tyler (Halfa) Monk, as well as two new dudes, Aaron Dickson and Timothy Greenidge, who makes up the company Mynority, based in Portland, Oregon.
This is the final interview video; be sure to read about them after the jump:
Featured Story:
Mynority is about Art, Music and Fashion - These guys are a prime example of principles we live by here at CS. We do not just like to talk about things; we become proactive and make shit happen - whether the results are good or bad, the journey brings plenty of lessons learned. Like Malcom Gladwell said, "To be a genius, you must put in 10,000 hours of practice," - theses guys are going to continue to grind, and in due time they're going to ahead of the crowd because they started something, while most are only talking about it.
Marquis of Mynority explained he started the brand back in college while being inspired by individuality. To design clothing he loved with like-minded folks. The brand is about art making and designing apparel that has an exclusive appeal; not one piece is similar to the other, because each piece is hand crafted individually.
While interviewing the whole team, I picked up on details that you usually don't get to see as an outsider looking in. Unfortunately, I had to keep the interviews short (only 3 minutes long), so I had to trim it a little to keep the interview video precise. Here are some quotes that I found to be rich and fruitful from the cast of Mynority;
"My personal fashion is very eclectic; I don't want to fall into one single genre so what I bring to Mynority is that same kind of confidence." - Olu Majekobaje
"As you know we say FAM alot. What's dope is we are a FAM. Our company entails fashion, art, and music- which spell out FAM" - Isaih marcell
"Mynority paints a lifestyle, with my music that's what I want to do, paint an image, make music that is driven by creativity" - Tyler Halfa Monk
"When I think about the start of Mynority man, I think about... Number 1: we are all FAM, we're all cool hanging out together, who else would you want to eat with....." - Tim Greenidge
Mynority is continuing to expand - One expansion is music, with Isaih and Tyler focusing on building a strong musical branch for Mynority member Tyler Monk, known by rap name Halfa . He has released a mixtape called Intermission, you can download it here:
Listen and download Intermission ASAP

Thievery Corporation is one favorite group playing on the sound waves here @ Creative Session. They make good music, very easy to listen to and we stay productive and not distracted.
A new favorite recommended by Keith called "See-Saw Kids" by B. Lewis & Xperiment -- Check em out.
Qualities we highly respect here at the CreativeSession lab is people with pure passion and talent. Weeks ago we had the opportunity to witness our homie A-1's live studio session. He's an extremely gifted vocalist out of the Bay Area from the Mission district. Accompanying A-1 is "Rawdad," another talented and brilliant band.
Being a totally spontaneous session we didn't come prepared with a nice camera, so excuse the low quality candid photos! And shout outs to "Yours Truly" and "Different Fur Studios" for making this session happen!
Enjoy, and make sure you guys check back for more A-1 hotness!
Ever since Adam commonly known as A-1 released "The Book of Adam" Mixtape this past August, we cannot stop listening. Check out his music NOW. // Facebook / / Music / / Twitter //
