"All things BEGETs itself."

Although the waves weren't that perfect today I had an awesome time talking to this guy; Kenny Jones or Kenny Heartwright because he spends a big percentage of his time thinking/writing about philosophy of the heart. (he showed me a rock he found in the shape of a heart.) The energy you put out is the energy you receive back from the world.  Kenny mentioned he's found many heart shaped souvenirs in nature for awhile now.  I can believe THIS.

The highlights of our conversation is when he said "Thanks for putting me in CHECK." I asked what do you mean? He replied that when he approaches someone and they ask how he is doing ? He replies with one of two things. "I am either doing really well" or "Thank You" - When I say Thank You I am checking my self. Kenny feels we don't spend enough time checking in with our selves and that most of the time we are frazzled with an  "I am OK"  cause we  are caught in a robotic routine that most of us are familiar with. I agree with Kenny and advice that we spend some time checking in with our selves, take the time to recap on where we currently are and what we want to do in the future. Have a plan but live in the moment we are often overwhelmed with milestones and checkpoints that we put happiness in the back seat cause we are constantly trying to achieve and not celebrating whats ACHIEVED.

Serendipitously I picked up a good analogy as I head into the ocean. I mentioned I really enjoy being out here alone although the beach is filled with surfer being alone in my own thoughts and feeling belittled by this massive ocean really re corrects me. It therapeutic and a great way to reset my self. Kenny continued with it's like a BEST FRIEND- really good friends bring out the best in you and each time you head to the ocean it's like have a date with your best friend. "It  brings out the best in you and your thoughts like a best friend should."

In the end everything begets it self. We had a conversation- this act Begot our friendship but the many great things we talked about begets more thoughts in my mind.

Cut&Paste SF

I didn't intend to make a video of the event. I brought Anh's Lumix GF1 to take photos because his Micro 4/3 takes good photos in low lighting. Turns out Paul Vu of PaulVu Photography brought his equipment, so I used Anh's camera to take 720p footage of the Cut&Paste event to put together a quick video to remember the night. Here is the video with the limited data I have! ENJOY.

Anh T Nguyen | Cut&Paste SF

This was our first time attending a Cut&Paste event. The last time C&P was in town, we didn"t get a chance to come and spectate. It took an invitation for Anh Nguyen to compete for the whole team to come witness AN AMAZING EVENT.
Cut&Paste
is a live design battle where selected designers face one another in a deathmatch freestyle battle. Winner holds bragging rights in their city and moves onto a final battle in New York. This years Cut&Paste battle held three different categories to compete in: 3D Design, Motion/Animation & 2D Design.

Cut & Paste @ Mezzanine on Febuary 16, 2012

Anh Nguyen of the C.S. crew was one of the selected few to compete in this year"s 1vs1vs1vs1 3D Design Battle, the topic was "Alternative Transportation". Each designer had 20 minutes to design, render and layout a clear and concise image that visually portrays the idea of an alternative transportation in front of an LIVE audience.

Our short recap video of the night:

The competition was tough, Anh competed against:
Jana Johnson: a 3D artist at Zynga. Website
Nambi Gardner: an architect formerly working for Gensler and now owns her own firm called GardnerDesignLab
Ray Sena: conceptual 3D artist. Website

It was definitely a nerve-wracking battle, considering the amount of talent of the competition. We all felt nervous as spectators, but imagine how Anh felt in the hot seat. In the end, Anh took 1st place with the design of the MAGIC CARPET.

Cut&Paste : Winner

Last night was awesome! Thanks Cut&Paste for putting on such a good show. This was our first time attending a C&P event. The last few times C&P was in town, we never got to come and spectate. It took an invitation for Anh Nguyen to come and compete for the whole team to come witness AN AMAZING EVENT. Don't sleep on this event; its wildly fun, and if you haven't been before, the next design battle will be in LA  (TBD) and London on April 26th.

Cut & Paste 2012 FEB 16 2012

Last night, Anh Nguyen competed in the 3D Design battle. The design challenge was to design an alternative form of transportation in 20 minutes, which includes modeling, rendering and any post-production graphics. At the end of the 20 minutes, he needed to have two final renderings of your design. It should visually communicate that it's an alternative vehicle on its own.

It was definitely a nerve wrecking battle, considering the amount of talented people under one roof. We all felt nervous as spectators imagining how Anh felt in the hot seat. In the end, Anh took 1st place with the design of the MAGIC CARPET.

I'm over editing videos

So nearly a month from today I flew to Portland Oregon to see family and to attend the 2nd Annual NW SNEAKER EXPO at the Roseland Theater. We were invited to sell some CS gear and to shoot a feature video. A day ago I finally finished editing the feature and wrote a recap - summarizing our experience. Here is the video I made-- I'm literally done filming and editing for at least a month! HA!

RECAP:

**Special thanks to Paul Vu over at PaulVuPhotography for working with us.**

This past December, we spent some time in Portland, Oregon with friends and family for the holidays and to bring in the New Year by releasing our new "Homeward Bound" Collection.

We were invited to the 2nd Annual Sneaker Expo hosted by Ibeth Hernandez, Adam Illa Lewis, Blaze' Lamar & Jacob Robinson at the Roseland Theater. The team was definitely excited to attend the event and our expectations were high cause we know our friend Ibeth throws a mean party.

Hoang Filming @ Nw Sneaker Expo Creative Session Logics

In addition to filming the event as a part of our "3 Minute" interview series, we also sold Creative Session gear. It was dope to be apart of the expo and to meet everybody who attended and/or was apart of the event.

Nw Sneaker Expo Creative Session

The exposure in Portland was awesome; we had a ton of fun networking and filming. It was quite hectic, and our anxiety level went through the roof trying to capture everything at the event. I must admit I'm quite satisfied with the footage taken and the result of the final edit. We captured the essence of the show and hope this will excite viewers enough to attend the next NW Sneaker expo in 2012.

Another element under the Creative Session umbrella was a photo booth area. Here are some photos taken of our fans, supporters, and new acquaintances – they sure had some fun with them. It was such a great opportunity to meet so many folks in the industry. If you took photos of the event, please Email us we will be happy to post them on our site!

Goodbye 2011 Hello 2012

"We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day."  ~ Edith Lovejoy Pierce

2011 has been such a successful year as far as brand awareness. Being able to work on awesome projects and grow together as a team is great.

Creative Session Keith Anh Hoang

We started the year off by re-crafting Creative Session as an industrial design lifestyle driven collective rather than a clothing company. Anh and I felt as if we have gotten too involved with apparel that we lost track of our fascination of product design and the website was going in a direction of a clothing company rather than an industrial design collective. In a sense I think we both have been grappling internally about the identity of Creative Session and what we want people to perceive us as. We both graduated as industrial designers and wanted to use Creative Session as a company that emphasizes on working with other designers to make cool projects. The results will be our SESSION- hence the Creative Session.

As the year progressed Keith, Anh and I worked on many different projects all the while bounced ideas off each other. The projects were anything from Album Covers, Music Videos, Graphics, Animations, Photography, Industrial Design to Logos and much more. At this point we realized the true creative session was between everyone in the CREW!! we've been having our own Creative Session this whole time.

2011 definitely brought us all together even more. We now work closely and the dynamics of the crew has become easier to define, we can work faster, more efficient and our roles have dictated when and where we're needed for any given project.

Anh and I do not stress about the types of projects we work on anymore but we're excited about the projects we all are able to make happen!

SPECIAL THANKS | they contributed to our growth big or small. Paul Vu, Siphavy Hem, , Steven Tran, Noel Andrade, Ryan Huy Nguyen

We ended our year with the "Homeward Bound" Collection. The collection is about designing shirts that is iconic to the state we all have lived in. We threw a release party to sell sweaters and shirts we made. Here are photos from our photo booth.

CREATIVEsession x COLD SHOWDA x BASTA "Unseen Supreme"

As you know CreativeSession is about the creative collaboration with all forms of art making. This time around Keith hopped on a project with Dj Basta & Cold Showda in designing the graphics for their latest Mixtape "Unseen Supreme" Download here "Unseen Supreme" The collaboration took roughly a months time, during this period Keith spent time getting to know their music and setting up mini offsite photo shoots via antique fairs and small flea markets. The distinguished white van on the cover was the result of these photoshoots.

Cold Showda KICKIN IT:

Last night Anh, Keith and I drove to Oakland to hang out with Basta and Cold Showda to film the wrap-up video of our creative SESSION. We all had a good time, always good to network. We took a few more shots of Keith working with these guys so we can put together this sweet promo video.

BP Oil Spill

This image really strikes a soft spot in me. A mother and her kids playing near the ocean but swimming in two kiddie pools rather than the giant ocean. I thought we are at war for oil! Why is there 25,000 to 30,000 barrels of oil spilling each day right around the corner from us! The war we should be fighting is this economical oil issue. Go green.
